Sensemaking Personal
Terms of service
The terms you agree to by using the app. The parts worth reading before you subscribe are the third and fifth.
- What you get
- A personal, non-transferable right to use the app on your own devices. Writing, reminders, export and backup are part of the free journal and are not time-limited. The instrument-editing add-on is $49/yr. It adds the question catalog, more than one instrument at a time, and the editor for writing your own questions. The Personal plan itself is free.
- What you write is yours
- We claim no ownership of and no licence to your entries. That is not generosity — we do not receive them, so there is nothing for us to claim. Nothing you have written is withdrawn, locked or degraded if you stop paying; it stays on your device, still exportable and still able to be backed up.
- Subscriptions renew until you stop them
- The instrument-editing add-on is $49/yr and renews annually until you cancel it. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, and again at the start of each new year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current year ends. Manage or cancel in your store account settings — not in the app, and not by deleting it, neither of which stops a renewal.
- Refunds are the store’s to give
- Purchases are made from Apple or Google, not from us, so refunds are handled by them under their terms. We cannot issue one, and neither can we see the payment it would come from.
- Back up, because the journal lives on your phone
- The same design that keeps us from reading your journal keeps us from restoring it. There is no copy on our side. A lost, wiped or broken phone with no backup means the writing is gone, and we will not be able to help. Back up to your own iCloud or Google Drive, keep the passphrase somewhere you will still have it, and test that a restore works before you need it.
- The ordinary caveats
- You need to be 18 or older to use the app. It is provided as it is, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of faults. We may change or discontinue features, and if a change alters what leaves your device we will say so before that version ships rather than afterwards. The full Terms of Use are governed by the law of the State of Georgia and include an arbitration agreement and a class-action waiver — worth reading, because they affect how a dispute would be resolved.
